Book — $150 · Microneedling Text a question

In short

Microneedling creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin with a pen of fine needles. The skin treats each one as a small injury and responds by producing collagen and elastin, which is what improves texture, pores, fine lines and scarring over the following weeks. It is surface work — skin quality, not skin looseness — done over a short series with a day or two of pinkness. Launching at BodyWorks; Price TBC.

How it actually works

The mechanism, plainly.

A handpiece with a cartridge of fine needles passes over the skin, making thousands of tiny, evenly spaced channels to a depth set for the area — shallower on thin skin, deeper on scarring. Each channel is a controlled micro-injury. The skin responds the way it does to any wound: it produces new collagen and elastin and remodels the surface, and because the channels are tiny and evenly distributed, it does so without a visible mark.

That is the whole mechanism, and it is why the results are in texture, pore size, fine lines and superficial scarring rather than in laxity. Where the complaint is structural — a jawline, a neck — the same needles with radiofrequency at their tips are what Morpheus8 is, and it is the honest step up.

Candidacy

Who it is for — and who it isn't.

This is for you if

  • It is the surface that bothers you — texture, pores, fine lines, superficial scarring — rather than the shape.
  • You want a gentle series with a day or two of pinkness rather than a bigger single treatment.
  • You are starting facial treatment and want the lowest-commitment step first.

This isn't for you if

  • It is laxity — a softened jawline, a neck. Needles without energy will not reach it; Morpheus8 will.
  • It bothers you when you move your face. That is a neuromodulator question.
  • You have an active skin infection or breakout in the area, or a history of keloid scarring. The consult screens for both.
  • You want nothing felt at all. Cold laser for the face is the treatment where nothing is felt.

Candidacy is a clinical decision made at the consult, under physician direction. The content on this site is for general information and does not constitute medical advice or establish a physician–patient relationship. Candidacy for any treatment is determined during an in-person consultation. Individual results vary.

Questions

About Microneedling.

Does microneedling hurt?

Numbing and comfort measures are set at the consult for the depth being used. Most people describe it as a scratching or vibrating sensation rather than pain; we would rather tell you plainly than promise it is painless.

How much downtime?

1–2 days. Expect to look pink, as if sunburnt, for the first day; most people are back to normal skin the day after. What to put on your skin, and when, is written down for you at the session.

How many sessions?

3–4, spaced apart, confirmed against your skin at the consult. Collagen keeps building for weeks after each one, so the result is judged after the series, not after the first.

Will it help acne scars?

Superficial scarring responds well. Deeper, pitted scarring usually needs energy behind the needles, which is Morpheus8 — the consult will say which.

Can I combine it with other treatments?

Yes. It sits comfortably alongside injectables and cold laser; sequencing is planned into your protocol.

Is it suitable for darker skin tones?

Microneedling does not use light or heat, which is generally why it is used across skin tones. Your skin is assessed at the consult and the depth chosen for it.

What does it cost, and when can I book?

Microneedling is launching at BodyWorks. Pricing is being finalised and is published on the pricing page the moment it is confirmed; you get the number in writing at your consult. You can book the consult now.

What should I avoid before and after?

Arrive with clean skin and no makeup. Afterwards, keep the skin clean and avoid harsh products and direct sun for the period we write down for you. The full list is given at the session.
